WWE 2K25 Introduces The Island Mode, But There’s a Catch
WWE 2K25 Unveils New Interactive Mode Exclusive to Current-Gen Consoles
WWE 2K25 is set to raise the bar with a variety of exciting new features, aiming to build on the success of its predecessors, WWE 2K23 and WWE 2K24. Developed by Visual Concepts, the game introduces fresh gameplay mechanics, new match types, and an expanded roster to keep the action thrilling for both newcomers and longtime fans. Among the new additions is a unique game mode titled The Island, offering players an entirely new way to engage with the WWE universe.
In The Island, players will step into an interactive world composed of multiple areas centered around various WWE themes. The mode encourages exploration, challenging players to earn a WWE contract by impressing Roman Reigns. Along the way, participants will be able to complete quests, take on challenges, and compete in live events—all while unlocking upgrades and customization options for their characters. However, there’s a catch: The Island will be exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players, meaning it won't be available for those on older consoles or PC.
The Island Offers Fresh, Interactive Gameplay, But Comes with Limitations
While much of The Island remains shrouded in mystery, it promises to offer a new and engaging gameplay experience for WWE 2K25 players. Blending online and offline elements, the mode is poised to become a standout feature of the game. However, the exclusivity to current-gen consoles may leave some fans feeling disappointed, especially those who do not own a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.
This move mirrors trends in other annual gaming franchises, such as Call of Duty and FIFA (now known as EA FC), which often introduce new features and modes to entice players to return each year. The core gameplay of these games may not change drastically, but the addition of exciting new content like The Island gives players a reason to upgrade. Unfortunately, for those on older platforms, the excitement is somewhat dampened by the exclusivity of the mode. It’s worth noting that while the PC version hasn’t been specifically mentioned, it’s unlikely that players on Steam will gain access to this new feature, likely due to the potential for modders to bypass unlockables.
Return of Popular Modes and Exciting New Content
In addition to The Island, WWE 2K25 brings back some of the series' most beloved modes. The Showcase mode returns, focusing on The Bloodline and their extensive family history. The Bloodline’s Dynasty will allow players to experience the careers of figures like Roman Reigns, The Rock, and Jacob Fatu, and take part in thrilling "what if?" scenarios. Meanwhile, MyGM, MyFACTION, and MyRISE all return with enhanced features, alongside an upgraded WWE Universe mode and the ever-popular Creation Suite, which lets players craft their own superstars.
With so much content, players will have plenty of options when they dive into WWE 2K25. The game launches on March 14 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. However, fans who purchase the Deadman or Bloodline Editions will be able to start playing a week earlier, on March 7.
