Trump Vows to End 'American Decline' and Restore National Strength at MAGA Rally
President-elect outlines plans for tougher border policies, increased oil drilling, federal workforce cuts, and the dismantling of diversity programs.
Washington, DC — At a fervent pre-inauguration rally on Sunday, President-elect Donald Trump promised to end the "four years of American decline" and usher in a new era of national strength, prosperity, and pride.
Speaking to a packed crowd of 20,000 supporters at the Capital One Arena, Trump vowed that his first day in office would set the stage for the "most extraordinary first 100 days" of any presidency. He declared that the time had come to put an end to what he called the "failed and corrupt political establishment" in Washington, DC.
"Tomorrow, at noon, we will close the curtain on these long years of decline and begin a new day of American greatness," Trump told the enthusiastic crowd. "We will restore American strength, dignity, and pride."
Trump, who is set to be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, used the rally to lay out his priorities for his first actions in office. Among the key promises were a crackdown on illegal immigration, a boost in domestic oil drilling, cuts to the federal workforce, and the dismantling of diversity initiatives.
"By the time the sun sets tomorrow, the invasion of our country will be halted," Trump declared, referring to his plans for stricter immigration policies along the US-Mexico border.
The rally marked Trump's first major public address in Washington since the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. He reiterated his intention to pardon many of those involved in the storming of the Capitol, with over 1,500 people either charged or convicted in connection with the attack.
Trump's speech retained the populist rhetoric that characterized his previous campaigns, as he entered the stadium through a public entrance, walking through the crowd to reach the stage.
As part of his agenda, Trump pledged to repeal "every radical and foolish executive order" from the Biden administration within hours of assuming office. Reports indicate that he plans to sign over 200 executive actions on Monday alone.
In addition to his domestic policies, Trump promised to release historical files related to the assassinations of prominent figures such as President John F. Kennedy, his brother Bobby Kennedy, and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
Tech mogul Elon Musk, a vocal supporter during the election, was also featured at the rally. Musk is slated to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), tasked with reducing the federal workforce and government spending.
The event also included performances by Kid Rock and country singer Lee Greenwood, whose song "God Bless the USA" has become a Trump rally staple. Actor Jon Voight, a Trump supporter, praised the president-elect as "our hero," acknowledging his commitment to the American people.
