Olympian Gabby Thomas Reveals She’s Being Stalked by Group of Men at Airports
The five-time Olympic medalist shares her distressing experiences and seeks advice from followers.
Olympic gold medalist Gabby Thomas has opened up about a troubling situation where a group of men have been following her at airports across the country, prompting her to seek advice from her social media followers.
In a TikTok video posted Tuesday, Thomas, a five-time Olympic medalist, described how the men appear at airports when she is traveling. They harass her, asking her to sign stacks of photos, and become aggressive if she refuses. Thomas believes the group is involved in reselling but said their behavior has been “aggressive and hostile.”
“It doesn’t matter what city. They’ve come when I was traveling to and from Chicago, they’ve come when I was traveling to and from Miami. And they have my flight information,” Thomas explained. The group of three to six men has approached her at various points in the airport, including gates and concourses, suggesting they are able to go through airport security with flight tickets in hand.
Thomas expressed concern over the fact that the men seem to know her travel details, even when she hasn't shared her flight information with anyone. “What scares me is that they have my flight information even when I don’t even know what time I’m flying out sometimes,” she said. “I don’t tell anyone my flight information.”
The situation has been particularly unsettling when Thomas is traveling alone. The Olympic champion, who won three gold medals at the Paris Olympics, emphasized how unnerving it is to feel watched by strangers, especially when they know her whereabouts before she does.
Thomas took to her social media platform to seek advice, addressing her more than 260,000 followers for help on how to handle the situation and stay safe. “I don’t know what to do,” she admitted. “Any advice is welcome.”
Her post quickly drew sympathy from followers, with fellow Olympian Ilona Maher calling the situation “so scary.” Thomas responded, saying, “Once I figure this out, they won’t be harassing anyone else.”
Tennis star Coco Gauff shared that she has had similar experiences, saying, "This happens to me too, I don’t know how it happens." Gauff speculated that someone at the airport may be tipping the men off about their locations.
In the comments, many offered advice, including suggestions to report the men to the FBI or check her accounts for any apps that might be providing the men with access to her flight details. Others recommended making a report to local police and airport security to document the encounters. One follower suggested that Thomas consider recording the men, as it could deter them from continuing their behavior.
Thomas shared a video showing two men following her at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. In the clip, she narrates that the men were “stalking” her, with one man even covering his face as she filmed. “I took this video once when they were following me past TSA,” Thomas wrote. “I’ll see who I can report it to. I’ll continue to take pictures and video. It scared them away.”
As Thomas seeks a way to ensure her safety while traveling, the unsettling reality of celebrity stalking and harassment remains a concerning issue for public figures.
