James Kennedy and Ally Lewber Split After His Arrest for Alleged Domestic Violence Incident
Lewber clarifies that she wasn't physically harmed and expresses relief that no charges were filed against Kennedy.
LOS ANGELES — "Vanderpump Rules" star James Kennedy and his girlfriend, Ally Lewber, have ended their relationship following his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence last December.
In a candid Instagram Story posted Wednesday, Lewber confirmed that the couple had broken up, expressing shock at how the media had portrayed the events surrounding the incident.
Kennedy was taken into custody in December after police were called to his home in Burbank, California, where a woman alleged that Kennedy had “lifted her up and threw her to the ground” during an argument. He was arrested around 11:50 p.m. on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence.
Lewber, however, clarified that she was not physically harmed in the altercation. She also expressed gratitude that the prosecutors decided not to pursue charges against Kennedy, stating, “I am happy that prosecutors decided not to file against James, as I never desired criminal charges.”
The argument, according to Lewber, stemmed from Kennedy’s struggles with alcohol consumption. “We had an argument outside of his home related to him drinking again, however, I was not physically hurt,” she wrote in the post.
Kennedy's attorneys, Scott Leemon and Leonard Levine, previously stated that there were no injuries involved in the incident, and Kennedy's representatives have not yet commented on Lewber's statement.
Despite the breakup, Lewber conveyed her ongoing support for Kennedy and wished him success in his journey toward sobriety. Kennedy, who has been open about his battle with alcohol, previously shared his sobriety journey on social media. In 2020, he marked one year of sobriety, sharing, “Letting go of drinking was the best decision I ever made and I’m going strong.”
While Kennedy has been a long-time fixture on "Vanderpump Rules," it was announced last year that the show would undergo a reboot, with Kennedy and other cast members no longer part of the new version. Lewber mentioned to US Weekly at the time that Kennedy was struggling emotionally with the news of the show's changes.
Though their relationship has come to an end, Lewber’s statement highlights her commitment to supporting Kennedy's personal growth and recovery.
