Driver Sentenced to Prison After 140mph M6 Pursuit
A driver who led police on a high-speed chase reaching 140mph on the M6 has been jailed and banned from driving for over a year.
Lewis Moore, 34, from Neston, Cheshire, appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Friday, where he was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison and disqualified from driving for 14 months. Moore admitted to dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without a valid license, and driving without insurance. He was also fined £154.
The pursuit began on 30 December when Moore, driving a blue Ford Fiesta ST, failed to stop near junction 14 on the northbound carriageway of the M6. According to Staffordshire Police, Moore reached speeds of 140mph and dangerously used the hard shoulder to overtake other vehicles.
The chase ended near junction 16 when Moore's car ran out of fuel and came to a stop.
PC Kara Pilarczyk praised the response of other drivers who provided space for officers to safely bring the situation to a close and detain Moore. She expressed gratitude for the public’s cooperation during the dangerous incident.
