Fox brings his impressive 25 points, 6.1 assists, and 5 rebounds per game to the Spurs in a blockbuster trade.
SAN ANTONIO — De’Aaron Fox is headed to San Antonio, where he will team up with the highly anticipated Victor Wembanyama as part of a major three-team trade deal.
The trade, which is still awaiting league approval, will see Fox leave Sacramento after a stellar season in which he is averaging 25 points, 6.1 assists, and 5 rebounds per game. Joining him in the deal is Jordan McLaughlin, who will also move from Sacramento to the Spurs. In return, the Kings will receive Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls and Sidy Cissoko from the Spurs.
For Chicago, the trade brings in Zach Collins from San Antonio and Tre Jones from the Spurs, along with sharpshooter Kevin Huerter from Sacramento. As part of the deal, the Kings will also acquire at least three first-round draft picks, bolstering their future assets.
Fox, an All-Star and All-NBA player in his eighth season, is now set to pair up with Wembanyama, the most highly anticipated rookie in recent memory. The addition of Fox gives the Spurs a dynamic point guard who can complement Wembanyama’s unique skill set, positioning San Antonio for an exciting future as they build around their emerging star.
Details of the trade were confirmed by sources with knowledge of the discussions, who spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity. While the trade still requires final approval, this move represents a significant shift for all three teams involved.
