Cheryl Hines to Halt Cosmetics Sales If Husband RFK Jr. Is Confirmed as HHS Secretary
Hines, Spouse of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Pledges to Cease Product Sales Tied to Her Brand Amid His Potential Cabinet Role
Cheryl Hines, the actor best known for her role on Curb Your Enthusiasm, has announced that she will halt sales of her cosmetics line, Hines & Young, if her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is confirmed as the next Secretary of Health and Human Services. This decision was outlined in a recent financial disclosure, where Hines stated that the company’s inventory would no longer be sold within 90 days of his appointment.
In a disclosure document, Hines wrote, “My spouse has agreed that Hines & Young, LLC, will stop sales of the company’s cosmetic inventory no later than 90 days from the date of my appointment.”
Just two months ago, Hines posted a controversial video on Instagram featuring her husband, Kennedy, showering behind her as she promoted products from her cosmetics line. The video, which garnered significant attention on social media, was shared in conjunction with Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions. In the video, Hines' head strategically blocked parts of Kennedy’s body, and she paired the post with the line, "Oh Bobby."
Following the video, Hines showcased her Hines & Young products, including a candle labeled “MAHA,” referencing Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again” movement. This movement gained traction after Kennedy withdrew from the presidential race and endorsed former President Donald Trump.
Kennedy, who is Trump’s pick for the Health and Human Services secretary position, disclosed various financial interests in a document released on Wednesday. This included receiving referral fees from law firms, such as WisnerBaum, which is suing Merck over the Gardasil vaccine.
"I am entitled to receive 10% of fees awarded in contingency fee cases referred to the firm," Kennedy clarified in his ethics filing, adding that he would not be directly involved in those cases during his potential tenure as Secretary. He also noted he would receive compensation related to the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.
A spokesperson for the Kennedy family did not respond to requests for comment, and NBC News also reached out to Hines’ company for further details.
