Bollywood Star Saif Ali Khan Stabbed in Alleged Home Invasion in Mumbai
Doctors assure Khan is on track for a full recovery after suffering multiple stab wounds as police intensify search for the suspect.
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed during an apparent home invasion at his residence in Mumbai.
The 54-year-old actor was rushed to a Mumbai hospital around 3:30 am on Thursday (22:00 GMT Wednesday) with six stab wounds, including two deeper injuries, one dangerously close to his spine, according to ANI news agency citing the hospital’s chief operating officer.
Khan’s representatives confirmed the attack, describing it as an “attempted burglary” and reassuring the public that “the rest of the family is safe.”
Later that day, doctors informed reporters that Khan was “on the road to a full recovery.”
“He suffered a serious injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife,” said Dr. Nitin Dange, one of the medical professionals treating him. “Surgery was conducted to remove the knife and repair a spinal fluid leak.”
A female household employee was also injured in the attack and is receiving medical treatment, according to the police.
Khan resides in a Bandra apartment in western Mumbai with his wife, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor-Khan, and their two children.
Authorities are actively searching for the suspect and have launched an official investigation into the incident, reported NDTV.
Khan, one of India’s most prominent actors, has appeared in over 70 films and television productions, also working as a producer. He is the son of former Indian cricket captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and veteran actress Sharmila Tagore.
Public Outcry Over Safety Concerns

Public figures and opposition leaders also urged stronger security measures.
