Andhra Pradesh Government Promotes Temple Tourism During Rathasaptami Festival
Over 3.5 Lakh Devotees Expected at Arasavalli Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple
In anticipation of over 3.5 lakh devotees visiting the Arasavalli Sri Suryanarayana Swamy temple on the auspicious occasion of Rathasaptami, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department has taken significant steps to promote temple tourism across the state.
Srikakulam tourism officer N. Narayana Rao announced the introduction of a new tourism package covering prominent temples, including the Srikurmanatha Swamy temple in Srikurmam and the Endala Mallikarjuna temple in Ravivalasa. Additionally, the package includes visits to major tourist attractions such as the Salihundam Buddhist site and Mogadalapadu beach.
Devotees and tourists interested in availing of the package can contact the Tourism Department at mobile numbers 84979-49494 and 98488-13586. The tour package is priced at ₹750 per person, with tickets available at the tourism counter set up at the Sun Rise Hotel on Arasavalli Road in Srikakulam.
Meanwhile, Srikakulam Collector Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar and other officials are making extensive arrangements for the Sobha Yatra, scheduled for February 2, 2025. The procession will commence from the municipal grounds and culminate at the Arasavalli temple. The government has officially declared Ratha Saptami as a State festival, and cultural programs and other celebrations will be held from February 2 to February 4, 2025.
In preparation for the grand event, Srikakulam Urban Development Authority Chairperson Korikana Ravikumar and his team have undertaken beautification projects around the temple premises. These efforts include laying new roads and clearing unauthorized structures and shops to enhance the overall experience for devotees.
To ensure security and smooth traffic management, the Police Department has deployed 1,329 personnel. Superintendent of Police K.V. Maheswar Reddy is overseeing security arrangements for the three-day festival, ensuring a safe and orderly celebration for all visitors.
With a strong focus on temple tourism, the Andhra Pradesh government aims to provide devotees with a seamless pilgrimage experience while highlighting the state's rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
